Switzerland will co-host UEFA EURO 2008™ at the end of a bumper domestic season that has seen the Super League set new record attendance figures.
Biggest draw
A total of 1.96m supporters passed through the turnstiles in the course of the 2007/08 season, an increase of 217,000 on the 2006/07 campaign. With the exceptions of FC Sion and relegated FC Thun, all of the teams in the top division recorded an increased average home attendance, with champions FC Basel 1893 proving the biggest draw with average crowds of 23,539.
Dramatic final
Their final-day title decider against BSC Young Boys saw a tremendous 38,015 crowd witness a 2-0 home win at St. Jakob-Park, which will host six games at the finals, while their rivals from Berne also enjoyed a fine season, with average gates of 18,571 at home games. Deposed champions FC Zürich had the third largest crowds in Switzerland, with an average home attendance of 12,186.
